Track #5

Sunday Mornin’ Breeze

“Sunday Mornin’ Breeze” is a song I wrote right out of college. I’d been out of college for several months and I had just joined the working world.

I was relaxing on a Sunday morning and thinking through how much everything changed in such a short period of time.

You know, you go from high school into college and then out relatively quickly in your adult life.

Thinking about the first few months when college first began. Feeling excited to begin life as an adult and finally away from home. Taking all the classes and feeling lucky to get by with not flunking any classes.

Then BOOM, you’re 22 and it’s like that window for college was just so short.

All of a sudden, here you are. A job, a mortgage, insurance, and all kinds of bills.

Once the bills start coming in and you realize you’re no longer a child… You’re an actual young adult trying to get by in life.

It was just one of those realization moments that I knew that I to capture.

So this song is for the nostalgia; for a much simpler time in life.

Lyrics to Sunday Mornin’ Breeze

Written by Mike Rhodes

Verse 1

Little girl smiles and cherry win
County fairs and fishin’ line
Friday nights tryin’ to be back home on time
Ice cream sodas and home town teams
Puppy dogs and old blue jeans
Crazy days spent chasin’ young
men’s dreams

Verse 2

Skating parties on winter nights
Hayrides and snowball fights
The first time tryin’ to stay awake all night
Summer days spent on the sand
Bonfires and holdin’ hands
Love we’d just begun to understand

Chorus

Like an easy Sunday Mornin’ Breeze
Glides along your mem’ries and rustles through the trees
Takes your mind back to a time makes you feel at ease
Like an easy Sunday Mornin’ Breeze

Verse 3

Now my life is changed today
There’s work to do and bills to pay
No time for the games we use to play
But I can still recall the times
We were young and drank our wine
Memories lay softly on my mind

Chorus

Like an easy Sunday Mornin’ Breeze
Glides along your mem’ries and rustles through the trees
Takes your mind back to a time makes you feel at ease
Like an easy Sunday Mornin’ Breeze
